Charlotte Slegers often speaks in images. Through montages and photography a story emerges. In many cases the photographs are the starting point for her collages. In May of 2016, Charlotte travelled to Ibiza to discover a vibrant island with many secrets. Although her montages are often layered and complex, the photographs seem so calm and appear to have an element of silence. This of course is in great contrast with the image we have of Ibiza, being a wild party island. The series, mostly taken in Elvissa and Santa Eularia, are a combination of nature and architecture; therefore Charlotte calls them urban landscapes. She says she got inspired a lot by fauna and flora, which is all the more exciting when portrayed in an urban context. Vivid colours are quite essential as well. Once again the dualism between on one hand the city and its buildings, and on the other hand the flowers and the blue, blue sky have a big impact on her work. Since a picture says more than a thousand words, it’s time to kick back in a comfy chair with a royal Martini at hand, and enjoy these beautiful images.
